I’ve been working on fixing bugs with items, which was “the” problem of the game in version 0.2.1, specifically the part where you run into invisible items.
There’s also a visual change, I updated the graphics and rendering a bit. In the past versions, you were unable to see clearly, even though that was a part of the game, I’ve used the feadback to change two important settings:
- “the light is too weak”, “too dark” -> now you should be able to see a bit clearer, without fully making you have nightvision.
- “the resolution is too low” -> the game was rendered with a Render Texture, with a 250 x 250 pixel size for a pixel perfect camera, but it was bit too much, so now it is a solid 700 x 700.
- “items go through the elevator’s floor” -> this bug is something with Unity’s physics engine, not fixed, but improved (only tacos don’t listen for some reason)
A unnoticed feature’s “removal”
In v0.2.1, sometimes when picking up one of these invisible items, the game went into “hyper game over mode” loading the game over tittle screen over and over again. This happened when the player pickes up the anomalous item, that is yet to be defined by the Bureau of Unknown. Until I find a way to fix the special event I have planned, the feature is disabled and the item is still of high value.
As most games do around this time, I added a bit of “snow” falling down inside the hub. I know it is lazy, but I plan on making the game a bit better through gameplay than through graphics, even if it is a priority.
“Why the sudden change from 0.2.1 to 0.3.1?”
The version number changes from build to build, it doesn’t matter if they are released or not, changes in builds change the version. Next time, I’ll try keeping a consistent version number with the updates.
